Lead alloy ampulla. Hollow cast miniature flask in the form of a ribbed pelta-shaped scallop shell with a markedly narrowed neck. A round panel on one side bears traces of what resembles an armorial charge, with either a central chevron or a field subdivided vertically and occupied by a trident-shaped object to the left. The other side bears only the grooved texture, which is carried across the seam between the two moulded halves of the object. Torn across the narrow neck, possibly the result of emptying the contents as a quasi-magical operation to restore a failing soil. Patinated. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1500 Height: 38.8mm, Width: 35.9mm, Thickness (wall): 0.8mm, Weight: 40.05gms
